Clyde Doyle Garrett went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 27, 2020 at his home in Gravette, Arkansas. He was born on August 6, 1954 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Sterlin and Della Garrett of Ponca City, and was preceded in death by his father and first wife LuAnn. Clyde was Called into the ministry as a teenager, ordained at Hickory Creek Baptist Church in November 2007 and graduated from Liberty University in December 2008. Clyde was the pastor of First Baptist Church Hiwasse from June 28, 2009 until his death, following an Assistant Pastor position at Hickory Creek Baptist. Clyde served as Head Deacon for Sunset Baptist in Ponca City and filled many positions there in his service for the Lord. He dearly loved his congregation, considered them family and counted it a blessing to Pastor. Clyde owned and operated Weathertite Seamless Guttering for many years in Ponca City and owned Clyde's Carpentry Practice in Northwest Arkansas building new homes for many years as well. Clyde "really liked" his dog Bernie and enjoyed riding his Harley throughout the Ozarks. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl and his girls, Alexandria and Adrienne of the home and son, Keith Garrett of Powell, Missouri; mother, Della Garrett and brother Clifford Garrett and wife Toni of Grove, Oklahoma and his beloved "Cousins". Well, Heaven became more real last night as my friend Clyde Garrett of Northwest Arkansas entered the pearly gates. He was welcomed by a great host of friends and family. The best part is that he was healed of cancer, pain and suffering. I am certain that as he spoke to those who met him at the gate that he asked where is my Jesus? I want to see Jesus! And he was ushered directly into the very presence of our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. He is now at peace and will be there to welcome us who know Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Please remember to pray for his wife and family as they carry on with life until Jesus calls us home. Clyde will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on as we remember him and what he stood for, faith, family, and friends. This is not goodbye but it is see you in the morning when Christ calls us home. Blessings to the family.
