John Dandridge Hollimon, Jr.

John Dandridge Hollimon, Jr. was born February 2, 1943, in McAllister, Okla., to John D. Hollimon, Sr. and Lena Dribben Hollimon. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Jane Hollimon Day; and his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Runyan Hollimon; two daughters, Rachel Hollimon Golden and Colby of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Sarah Hollimon Stagg and Jeff of Crossett; one son, John David Hollimon and Michelle of DeWitt. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Mychal Layne Golden, Carrington Elizabeth Hollimon, Daniel Todd Golden, Carson Riley Hollimon, Katherine Ruth Golden, and Samantha Stagg Dumas; one great-grandson, Maddox Colt Dumas; and beloved brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wanda Runyan. John was raised in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1961, from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (A&M) with a Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in English and History in 1965. He taught at Watson Chapel, Merrill High School in Pine Bluff, Woodland Jr. High in Fayetteville. He received his Masters of School Administration in 1972 from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was Assistant Principal of T.W. Daniels Middle School in Crossett, principal at McGeehee Junior High, principal of Calhoun 6th grade in Crossett, principal of T.W. Daniels Middle School in Crossett and principal of Norman Junior High in Crossett. He was owner of Hollimon Farm Supply then worked for Ashley County Adult Education in Hamburg. He was Assistant Principal of Wynne High School then finished his career with Helena Public Schools as Transportation Director. He enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their activities. His hobbies were blacksmithing and carving walking sticks. He was known for his "old family recipe cheesecake" which came out of the Arkansas Gazette. His friends and family will miss his dry wit and knowledge. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Diffee officiating and under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
