Donna Sue Maggard

Donna Sue Pennington Maggard, 81, of Springdale, passed to be with our Lord on November 27, 2020, in Fayetteville. She was born May 30, 1939, at Georgetown, to Bige and Minnie Augusta Garrett Pennington. Donna married Dale Lee Maggard on Saturday, May 2, 1959, at Wesley, Ark., and together they were parents to three children. She retired from Tyson Foods in 1988, after 16 years of service. During her retirement, she volunteered at the Madison County Genealogical Society. Donna also served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Venus Cemetery. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden, playing scrabble, watching football with Dale, and visiting with friends and family. She cherished the memories of the numerous weekends at Beaver Lake fishing and water skiing with her children and Dale. Donna was blessed with the opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally after her retirement. She experienced numerous historical and exotic locations. Nevertheless, she never lost her appreciation for the beauty of God's creation as viewed from the front porch of her and Dale's Venus Mountain home. Donna joyfully attended the Aurora Church of Christ. Donna deeply loved and appreciated her church family. Their love and dedicated support during her three-year struggle with cancer will forever be remembered. Donna was a loving wife, mothers, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Dale Maggard of Springdale; one son, Jeff Maggard of Tontitown and two daughters, Sherry Turpin of Springdale, and Renae Harris of Springdale, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lamoine and Gerald; and her twin sister, Betty Hulse, whose support during the initial stages of her cancer diagnosis was extremely valuable. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2020, at Brashears Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, please practice social distancing and masks are required for entry. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 5, at Venus Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kent Myers, Chris Callahan, Garrett Taylor, Scott Carpenter, Connor Harris, and Jamie Hulse. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Knaust, Steve Bailey, and Bobby Taylor. Interment will immediately follow services at Venus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna's name may be made to Venus Cemetery, c/o Twila Bryant, 1962 Madison 334, Witter, Ark., 72776. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
