Elizabeth Beverly Balch Price

Elizabeth Beverly Balch Price, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 7, 1932, and died peacefully at home on December 20, 2020, surrounded by family. "Beba" always made you feel like you were her favorite. She was tender and giving to all who met her. You have known people that could "light up a room", this was Beba. She lit up any room with her beauty, smile, kind heart, humor, luminous eyes, laughter and love. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Ben Olyn Price, her mother, William Alberta Rudd "Baba", her father, Fredrick Senter Balch, and brother, Frederick Senter Balch II. Beverly maintained her humor despite having fiver children, Porter Price Puckett (Bill) of Little Rock; Elizabeth "Liz" Price Watkins (Birge) of Warrenton, Virginia; Mary Price Jones (Curtis) of Little Rock, Ark., Benjamin "Ben" Olyn Price Jr. (Lucy) of Boise, Idaho, and Anne Price Heiselmann (John) of Boise, Idaho, and her adored ten grandchildren and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. Beverly's guided passion was her Roman Catholic Faith and a lifelong connection to the Carmelite Nuns at Carmel of St. Teresa of Jesus in Little Rock. She attended St. Andrews and Mount Saint Mary's Academy. She was an alumnus of U of Ark at Fayetteville, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority and found a handful of friends with whom she remained close throughout her life. Beverly met Ben Price at UAMS while volunteering as a "Grey Lady". They instantly fell in love. They married Sept. 8, 1956. Their lives were filled with love and many family adventures, travels, picnics, Labrador retrievers, and family. Their need to be outdoors speaks to their spirit of adventure and love of nature. Ben and Bev enjoyed world travel, visiting all seven continents. They were inseparable. Mom and Dad attended the 1976 Winter Olympics. They spent most of the year at their home in Hailey, Idaho. They reveled in the outdoors, snow skiing, fly fishing, camping, hiking, gardening and entertaining. Beverly's backyard gardens were featured in Sun Valley magazine. Mom was an accomplished chef and thoroughly loved entertaining family and friends. Mom was quirky, quick witted, had a unique sense of humor and was known among those close to her as a world class whistler. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Little Rock, actively involved in Arkansas and Idaho garden clubs, the Arkansas Art Center and enjoyed various writers' conferences in Sun Valley, Idaho. Her energy and character remain with us, and we hold her close to our hearts. She was the essence of love and those who loved her will hold her light in their hearts forever. he family extends our heartfelt gratitude to the special ladies who so gracefully cared for Beba.
