Nell Whisenhunt Pennington

Nell Whisenhunt Pennington, 86, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord on December 23, 2020. She was born August 26, 1934, in Cave Ridge, Ky., to the late Leslie Dewey Anderson and Fannie Lee Garmon Anderson. On August 28, 1954, she married Ruben "Red" Hamilton Whisenhunt. Soon thereafter, they moved to Glenwood, Ark., where Red died on June 1, 1976. Nell's priorities were her family and her faith. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. She was a pediatric nurse for 36 years at Ouachita Memorial Hospital and National Park Memorial Hospital. Nell loved caring for children and their families. She is survived by her son, Gene Hamilton (Kathy) Whisenhunt of Little Rock; her daughter, Robin Ann (Wesley) Miller of Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the staff at Belvedere Nursing Home for the genuine love and care for our mother. We deeply appreciate each one of you. Due to the COVID pandemic, the family will have a private family service at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Interment will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Glenwood. Memorials may be made to Hot Springs Baptist Church, 144 Weston Road, Hot Springs, Ark., 71913 or Ouachita Baptist University, 410 Ouachita St., Arkadelphia, Ark., 71923. Pallbearers will be Jared Whisenhunt, Matt Crow, Jason Crow, Justin Miller, Kevin Karm, Bubby Harrell and Barry McCaskill. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
