James T. Chalakis

James T. (Jim) Chalikis, age 92, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died December 24, 2020. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith (Edie). Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jim was a graduate of Lane Tech and Illinois College. He served as a U.S. Army intelligence officer in Japan. Jim was a Vice President and Trust Officer for American National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago for many years until accepting a position in Hot Springs Village as trust officer for Arkansas Bank and Trust Co., continuing with First Commercial Bank and retiring as a trust officer for Regions Bank. Jim was a member of Village United Methodist Church. He was a trusted advisor to many clients and friends. Jim was active in civic affairs. He was a past president of Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club and a charter member of VFW Post 10483 as well as a Shriner. Jim enjoyed golf and boating on Lake Coronado. Jim was a bat boy for the Chicago Cubs from 1943-1946, including the 1945 National League champion team. He traveled with the team and was befriended by the players, Manager Charlie Grimm, and the owner, Philip Wrigley, who paid a fine levied against Jim when he complained to an umpire about a call.
