Thomas Clarence Chastain, 91, of Springdale, Ark., went to meet his maker on Sunday, December 27th, 2020. He was born in McKinney, Texas, on May 8, 1929 to Luther E and Ruby Lee Chastain. He spent most of his life in some kind of service to the people. At a early age of 12, he was a member of the Civil Defense Corp in 1941, as a messenger between Look-Out Post on the California Coast. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1946, serving 24 years. Upon retiring he became a Letter Carrier with the Postal service, while going to College, graduating with a degree in Political Science. He became involved in Law Enforcement in 1970 as City Marshall and deputy Sheriff in Utah, till retirement from the Washington County Sheriff Dept. in 2008, a span of 38 years. In his spare time he was an avid hunter, fisherman, four wheel rider ,and R.V.'er. He was a life member of the National Riffle Association, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars,(Post 2952 Springdale, Ark.) and life member of Military order of the Cootie (Beaver lake Post 6), and Springdale Masonic Lodge #316. Thomas was a member of 1st Assembly of God Church in Springdale. He enjoyed life and was always busy doing something. Thomas is survived by his wife, Marie Chastain; son, Thomas Clint Chastain; stepchildren, Denise (Kelly) Rippee, Dennis Welch, and Wanda Pittman (Brian); grandchildren, Joe Wilson, Caitlin Chastain, Whitney Collins, Nick David, Richard Hogle, and Hollie Crabtree; and several great-grandchildren; sister Goldianee (John) VanZant. He is preceded in death by his parents and two stepdaughters, Donna Wilson and Donna Geabhart. Visitation will be 9-10 before the service.
