Thomas Steven Blossom, 78, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at his home after a brave battle with cancer. Tom was born in Dallas, Texas on March 9, 1941, son of the late Herman "Jerry" and Kate Blossom. He is survived by his wife Susan and her children and grandchildren, and his daughters Tracy Brengard (Chris) of Paragould and Sarah Blossom (Clay Fendley) of Little Rock. His grandchildren Mary Kathryn Brengard, John Brengard, Ian Fendley and Henry Fendley, along with many other cousins, family members and friends, also survive him. After living in several different states as a boy, Tom's father retired from the Hire's Root Beer Company and the family settled in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tom graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1959 due to high schools being closed in Little Rock that year. He then attended Arkansas State Teacher's College (now the University of Central Arkansas) receiving a business degree in 1965. After working for the Little Rock Housing Authority, Tom and his family moved to Paragould in the early 1970's. He became a licensed building contractor and builder of custom homes throughout the area. He was a veteran, retired from the Air National Guard. He participated in many community activities over the years and recently served on the board of Chateau on the Ridge. He also served on the trustees committee for the First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. When Tom wasn't building houses he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and lake time. He had a passion for antique cars and would restore them and then enter competitions through various car clubs. His knowledge was so respected that he became a judge at several car shows. Tom had a love for animals. He spent much time in his youth riding horses and in later years enjoyed owning and working with Labrador Retrievers and traveling to watch them in dog trials. Tom was devoted to family and friends. He was hard working, generous, and always willing to offer advice or help to someone in need. He will be deeply missed by those that loved him. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church with a visitation to follow. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Brengard, John Brengard, Clay Fendley, Ian Fendley, Henry Fendley, and Sam McHaney. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Paragould.
