Susan Gail Oberste Ross (Grandma Susie), 72, of North Little Rock, died Dec. 31, 2019 while spending the evening with her youngest grandson. She was born April 6, 1947, in Little Rock to George H. and Alleen R. Oberste. She was educated at Our Lady of the Holy Souls School and Mount St. Mary Academy. After high school, she trained to become a Registered Nurse at St. Vincent where she obtained her nursing degree and embarked upon her 42 year career as a neo-natal intensive care unit nurse at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. Over her career she worked with her fellow nurses to save the lives of numerous fragile infants, ministered to their parents, and train others in this special calling to watch over these special babies. When she wasn't helping infants and their families, she was taking care of her own children. As a loving mother to 3 children, she provided a wonderful home of love, support, and creating memories with intention to launch them each into adulthood as responsible and contributing members to society. After this season of life, she transitioned into her greatest Ministry– giving herself to her 12 grandchildren in the role of "Grandma Susie". This was her most beloved role and is how she is best remembered. She will be remembered for her quiet, caring focus and steady presence for all. She was a great listener, and confidant to many, providing guidance and love to those who sought it. Survivors are her daughter Jennifer L. Charlebois of Charles Town, West Virginia and husband Joel and their sons Christopher, Aaron, George and Henry; her daughter Robyn Schweizerhof of North Little Rock and husband Karl, their sons Ross, Eli, and Noah; and her son Jonathan D. Ross of Little Rock and wife Tara and their sons Miles, Aidan, Ethan, Benjamin, and daughter Julia. Also surviving are five siblings, David Oberste (Barbara), Paul Oberste (Jane), Linda Withrow (With), Carol Oberste, and Lisa Finne (Tim), each of Little Rock; and her very best friend in the world, Mary Vogler (her "Lucy and Ethel" best friend), and her sister-in-law Kathy Oberste, wife to Steve who preceded her in death. We take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her parents and her brother in heaven with her in the presence of our Lord. Visitation will begin on Friday, January 3, at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healy & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock, Ark. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 4th at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock with Fr. Warren Harvey, celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the garden columbarium at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church in Little Rock at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in her name to Immaculate Conception Church or use the donation amount for a family beach trip! please sign the online guestbook at griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
