Gay Lynn (Gilmore) McCord

GAY LYNN (GILMORE) MCCORD was born in Longview, Texas, Sept 9, 1939 to J.A. and Sallie Gilmore. She grew up in El Dorado, Ark., and married Robert McCord on July 15, 1957. She was a stay at home mom until the children started to school and then began her career in school administration. She loved dogs, traveling, reading, entertaining friends and family. She was an avid sports fan, a regular at Little Rock Touchdown Club, Downtown Tip Off Club luncheons and St. James Third Monday Luncheons. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Robert McCord, Daughter Debbie Northern, Son Dr. Scott McCord, (Dr. Marian McCord), Granddaughters Heather Clopp (Chad), Shea McCord, Kara McCord and her great-grandchildren Logan and Preslie Clopp. She is a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Special thanks to Dr. Rhonda Gentry and Cathy Lee of CARTI Cancer Center, and the caregivers at Baptist Healthcare. Open Viewing will be Monday, July 13, 2-4 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be Tuesday, July 14, 1 p.m., at Pinecrest Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Carness Vaughn. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, CARTI or Virgil Starks Memorial Scholarship at Rhodes College.
