Robert Wallace Turner

Robert Wallace Turner "Bob", 83, passed away July 9, 2020. He was born March 28, 1937 in Cypert, Ark., to Wallace Berry Turner and Francis Hillsman Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his two children, Barbara; his daughter, Catherine Turner; a brother, Thomas Turner; and a sister, Martha Turner Humphries. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Carolyn Bryant Turner; his son, John Wallace Turner (Norma); granddaughter, Kathryn; and step-granddaughter, Hannah of Fillmore, Calif.; his brother William Turner (Jo) of Marvell, Ark.; stepdaughter, Kristy Atkinson Kidd (Shane) of Little Rock; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bob will be missed for his great sense of humor, and enduring love of family. Bob graduated from Marvell Public School and received a B.S. degree in agriculture from Mississippi State, and a master's degree in General Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. He joined the U.S. Navy in September of 1959, completed Navy OCS in February of 1960, and was commissioned as an Ensign. He spent 2 years on the Destroyer USS Wiltsie DD716, and 2 years assigned to a communication center at Allied Forces Southern Europe at Naples, Italy. He was discharged in December of 1963 and worked for J.I Case Equipment Company and then the Federal Land Bank in Forrest City. In 1971 Bob began a 29-year career with the University Arkansas a Research Station Resident Director at the Pine Tree Experiment Station and then at the Cotton Branch Station in Marianna, Ark. A graveside service for Robert Turner will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Cypert Cemetery in Cypert, Ark. Social distancing is recommended.
