Betty Marie Thompson

Betty Marie Thompson peacefully passed away Monday, July 27, 2020, one day prior to her 90th birthday. She was born July 28, 1930, in Branson, Mo., the daughter of Katie Marie (Boehme) and George Stone, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnie; and four brothers, George (Junior) Stone, Jr., twin brother, Billy Gene Stone, Roy Lee Stone, and Gordon Leon Stone. Betty was a longtime resident of Harrison and Boone County. She graduated from Omaha High School in 1948. She married her sweetheart Johnie Dee Thompson, of Jasper, in 1950. In 1954, they moved, along with their two sons, to Fayetteville so Johnie could finish his degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. She always worked to support her family and after her husband and all three children received their degrees, Betty became a Realtor, a career she enjoyed for many years. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Thompson of Clarksville, and Kenny and Mary Beth Thompson of Fort Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Marietta and David McGinnis, of Springdale; grandchildren, Jake Thompson, Nicholas Thompson and wife Amber, Chelsea Smith and husband Peter, and Will McGinnis; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ava, Molly, Olivia, Ellie, and Charlotte. Private service will be held at the Jasper Cemetery. Open visitation Wednesday, July 29th, 1 p.m.- 8p.m. at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
