George R. Smith

It is with deep sorrow we mourn the passing of George R. Smith, age 78, of Conway. He was born in North Little Rock, Ark., to the late Vonnie and L.R. Smith. He graduated from North Little Rock High (Ole Main) in 1960. George enjoyed his career in banking in Little Rock for over 30 years before retiring in 2007 as Sr. Vice President at Metropolitan National Bank (now Simmons Bank). It was a pleasure to serve on the Board of Little Oaks (Mabelvale Baseball Association) and coaching his sons baseball teams. George is survived by the love of his life for 57 years, Mary Ann (Stagg) Smith; and son Dennis Smith and wife Erah Smith of Apopka, Fla.; son Jeff Smith and wife Erika Smith of Dumfries, Va.; grandchildren: Sasha Smith of Florida, Lance Smith (wife Abby), and Cassidy Smith, all of Gulfport, Miss.; sister Bonita Manning (Bobby) of Highland Village. Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Patsy Boardman, and brother Ronny Smith. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
