Olin Leroy Dobbs

Olin Leroy Dobbs, age 89, of Austin passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home. He was born December 22, 1930 in Sweet Home, Arkansas to the late Warren William and Selma Hoekstra Dobbs. Olin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William "Bill" and Ted Burrell Dobbs; and nephew, Mike Dobbs. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marion Coleen Greenfield Dobbs of Austin; daughter, Marion Frances Perin; granddaughter, Theresia Michele Garcia (Nick); great-granddaughter, Catelyn; nephew, James "Buddy" Dobbs (Debbie), all of North Little Rock; and nieces, Dianne Shook of Benton, Jan Malnar (Ference) of McClean, Virginia, and Kathy Erskine (Bill) of Charlottesville, Virginia. Olin graduated from Little Rock Central High in 1948. Before joining the U.S. Air Force, he was in the first class that attended the present location of UALR (then, Little Rock Junior College). Olin retired after 22 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant (E8). He served during the Korean War, spent one year in Vietnam, five years in England, four years in Japan, and two years in Thailand. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #1 and the Disabled Veterans of America. After retirement from the military, Olin was employed as a vice president for Holly Enterprises of Wilkesboro, North Carolina and retired from the Danny Thomas Company as CFO after 25 years. During his military career and after retirement he and his wife traveled to over 30 foreign countries and 46 United States. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Private interment to follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2020 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
