Richard I. Daniel

Richard I. ( Dick ) Daniel of Rogers, Ark., died peacefully at age 93 on March 27, 2020 at Innisfree Nursing Home in Rogers. He was born November 7, 1926 in Detroit, Mich., to Leslie and Margaret Daniel. He grew up in Plymouth, Mich. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, and attended Notre Dame University under the V12 program. He graduated from the University of Michigan as an Electrical Engineer. He registered, by exam, as a Mechanical Professional Engineer (P.E.). In 1948, he went to work for King-Seeley Corp. as a research engineer. In 1952, he joined Daisy Manufacturing Co as an engineer and became Vice President of manufacturing and then President. In 1985, he joined FM Structural Plastics Co. and Sibley Engineering as Chairman and CEO. He served on the boards of FM Corp., CEI Engineering, and Arvest Bank in Rogers. He married Jane Ann Lyons in 1948. They had five children, Richard C. Daniel, Lawrence E. Daniel, Andrew P. Daniel, Robert E. Daniel, and Katherine Jane Daniel. There are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Jane Ann's death, he married Jane Barclay Taylor who had four children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Following Jane's death, he married Martha O. Jones who had five children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daniel was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Ann; his wife, Jane; and his wife, Martha; his son, Larry; his grandson, John; and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his children; Richard, Andrew, Robert, and Katie; two sisters, Barbara Birmingham and husband, Roy of Novi, Mich., and Sue Daniel of Novi, Mich.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-children. He was member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society for Testing Materials, where he was Chairman of the task force that wrote the Air Gun Standards. He was member of Tau Beta Pi (National Honorary Engineering Fraternity), ETA Kappa Nu (National Honorary Electrical Engineering Fraternity), and a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers. Daniel received the Rogers Good Neighbor Award and the Arkansas State Community Development Award. Other activities included member and past President of the Rogers Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rogers Rotary Club, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and a board member of the Associated Industries of Arkansas. He was an active member in the Presbyterian Church as a Church School Superintendent, a teacher, and an Elder. Other activities included, member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation board, University of the Ozarks board member, founding member and President of the NonPowder Gun Association, member of the Arkansas State Council on Economic Education, and served the Rogers United Way as fund Chairman. As a memorial to Dick Daniel, the family requests that we each remain alert to the needs of others and help them as we are able. A private family memorial service will be held at Rogers First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockade-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.
