Jean Oliver Blomquist

Jean Oliver Blomquist, December 9, 1921, to May 13, 2020. Jean was born in Waterloo, Iowa, to Ned N. and Lalia (Smith) Oliver. She lived in several locations in Iowa and Illinois before eventually moving to Joliet, Illinois, where in high school she met her husband, Henry A. Blomquist, whom she married in 1942 while he was deployed in the Army Air Force during WWII. Besides working in the family business, Model Pharmacies, Inc., in New Lenox, Ilinois, Jean was an avid golfer, artist, tennis player and gardener. She was involved in charities in Joliet, raising money for worthwhile projects through Holly Club. At retirement, she and Hank moved to Georgetown, Fla., where she lived for 22 years before moving to Parkway Village in Little Rock, Ark., where she enjoyed socializing, acting in plays, serving on various committees, taking painting classes and playing bridge. Quite the extrovert, everywhere Jean went she made friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Hank; a son, Eric H. Blomquist; a grandson, Benjamin R. Scott; and her brother, Ned N. Oliver Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Bob) Spray of Little Rock, Jenifer (Mark) Watkins of Pittsburgh, Pa.; granddaughter Ella (Martin) Wittman of Germany; grandsons Aaron (Gina) Lorenz of Oceanside, Calif., and Nathan (MaCall) Scott of Sewickley, Pa. Her great grandchildren are Hailey and Zoe Lorenz, Kathryn, Emma and Violette Scott, and Fritz and Theo Wittman. A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
