Shelly Amanda Roberts

Shelly Amanda Young Roberts, age 42, of Rison went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She passed away after a long battle with hydrocephalus from birth, which she struggled with complications for many years. Now she will be healthy and pain-free forever. She was born September 19, 1978, to T. Mark and Debra "Debbie" Gavin Young in Warren, Ark. She was their only child. She attended school at Rison graduating in 1997 and was an Elementary Education Graduate of UAM in 2001. She taught 3rd grade at L.L. Owen Elementary School in Pine Bluff and Rison Elementary. She was a member of Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church of Herbine, where she was raised. She enjoyed helping with Bible School and Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her parents; her loving husband, Brian Leland Roberts, whom she married June 6, 1998; two beautiful daughters, Anna Beth and Julie Amanda Roberts. Her maternal grandparents, J.W. and Pat Gavin of Herbine; her paternal grandmother, Thelma Young Hays of Rye, and the late Floyd Dale Young; her in-laws, Donnie and Sharron Roberts of Rison; her Aunt Donna and Uncle Wilton Johnston. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine, with Bro. Wade Peddy officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the cemetery.
