Lum Charles (L.C.) Gaither, 83, of Hot Springs, Ark., went to be with the Lord November 4, 2020. He was born May 26, 1937, in Hot Springs, to Earl Charles and Pansy (Dillard) Gaither. L.C. graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1960. He was a mechanical engineer and co-founder of Mid-South Engineering and Hi-Tech Engineering. L.C. was a member of Piney Grove Methodist Church. His greatest joy was traveling the world with his wife, children, and grandchildren. L.C. was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nona Vaughn. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Swaim Gaither; daughters, Karen Haringsma (Bart), Cindy Stern (Scott); grandchildren, Andrew Stern (Christine), Sarah Rogala (Bryan) Emma Franklin; and great-grandchild, Ivy Violet Franklin. A celebration of L.C.'s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center, 2529 Airport Road, with Pastor Scott Gallimore officiating. Masks and social distancing required. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ricky Lee, Austin Lee, Jerry Brown, Bart Haringsma, Mark Buhrow, and David French. Honorary pallbearers are nurses: Vanessa and Kallie, and his breakfast buddies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
