Halton Leon Zachary

Halton Leon Zachary, 90, left this earth to return home on Wednesday, November 3, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Halton was born on June 10, 1930, to John Washington Zachary, Jr. and Myrtis Raley Zachary Baggett in Star City, Ark. In 1950, Halton joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years. During his time in the Navy, Halton was in the Korean War and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal (First Award), Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, China Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. In the summer of 1954, Halton was honorably discharged and found work and retired as an electrical engineer for Western Electric (later known as AT&T). When he wasn't working, you could always find Halton gardening. He was also a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church. Halton is preceded in death by his father, John Washington Zachary Jr.; mother, Myrtis (Raley) Zachary Baggett; infant brother, Alton; and wife, Millie Sue (Livingston) Zachary. He is survived by daughter, Halta A. Zachary of Oklahoma City, Okla; sons, John R. Zachary of Oklahoma City, Okla, David F. Zachary and wife Dana, of Edmond, Okla, and Paul L. Zachary of Oklahoma City, Okla; brothers, Dalton Zachary of Star City, Ark., and Charlie Baggett and wife, Marion of Star City, Ark; sisters, Lois Zachary Ratterree of Star City, Ark., Laville Zachary Montgomery of Searcy, Ark., Martha Baggett Taylor and husband, Larry, of Star City, Ark., and Jo Baggett Segars and husband, John of Pine Bluff, Ark. Halton also leaves behind six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. Visitation is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 13, 2020, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701, N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73162. The funeral service in honor of Halton will be on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
