Leon Dean Allen, 88, of Springdale, passed away on November 21, 2020. He was born on August 28, 1932, in Springdale, to Dean C. Allen and Leanore Marie Hicken Allen. Leon was a lifelong Springdale resident. He worked in the family's business, Allen Brothers Construction, and was a brick and stone mason for over 40 years. His work can be seen on numerous, prominent buildings across Northwest Arkansas. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. His greatest passion was amateur archaeology. He and his sister, Linda, were instrumental in founding the Shiloh Museum in Springdale. He donated the majority of his collection to the museum and the Arkansas Archeological Survey. Additionally, he was a member of the NWA Archeological Society. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert "Benny" Allen and Phillip Allen, and two sisters, Renelda Hebert and Linda Hild. Survivors include his five children, Susan Hinton and husband Chad of Fayetteville, Tracy Davis and husband Tony of Siloam Springs, Brenda Siker and husband Rich of Bella Vista, Ginger Bowen and husband Yancey of Fayetteville, Daniel Allen and wife Gina of Bella Vista; two sisters, Connie Marshall of Edmund, Okla., and Kathy Ginotti of Kensington, Conn; ten grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. Graveside service will take place Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Cave Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Springdale Senior Center.
