Ray Cates of Carlisle passed away on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 at the age of 69. He was born in 1951 to Jeff and Gladys Cates. He was a well respected carpenter who built many homes in the Lonoke County area. Ray was known as an honest, trustworthy, hard working man who made great relationships and many good friends over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and passed on these passions and loves to his nephews and his beloved grandson Drake. He is survived by his wife Linda Cates of Carlisle, Stepson Gary Campbell (Cassie) of Searcy, Grandson Drake Campbell, Sisters Donna Rorex (Jim) of California, Debbie Frisby ( Howdy) of North Little Rock, and 6 nephews (Jeffery Cates, Todd and Adam Rorex, Jodie, Matthew and William Frisby). He is preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Roy Cates. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. James J. Kane, Dr. C.D. Williams and their staff, all the nurses and Chaplain Shelby Smith at Arkansas Heart Hospital for their expert care and attention that was given to Ray. A graveside service will be held at the Carlisle Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 3rd at 11:00 am. The family requests that social distancing be observed and masks be worn at the service.
