LaWanda Gay Waltman

LaWanda Gay Waltman passed away peacefully at home on September 25 at the age of 85. She was born January 30, 1935 in Maud, Okla., to Irene and John Finnigen. LaWanda earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and her master's from the University of Arkansas. She enjoyed a long career of teaching in Oklahoma City and Fayetteville at Bates and Happy Hollow. She was dedicated to her students and loved teaching. LaWanda loved to needle point and sharing her projects with family and friends. She was a member of Rolling Hills Church and appreciated the fellowship and comfort of her church family. LaWanda especially enjoyed travel with her late husband Bill, and weekly luncheons with her dear friends of many years. LaWanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; a brother Tommy, and her grandson Austin. She is survived by her son Mike Waltman of Chapel Hill, N. C.; her daughter Michell Waltman of Fayetteville; two grandchildren Gus Waltman and Kenda Shouf; two great-grandsons Jett and Tripp, and a special friend and sister-in-law Pauline Waltman-Wilson of Mineral Wells, Texas.
