John Vincent Schlereth, Jr., age 54, died on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock after a long battle with liver disease. Vince was born to John V. Schlereth, Sr. and the late Susie Schlereth on April 2, 1966, in Little Rock. He graduated from Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys, attended Georgetown University, and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture. He was a talented artist and enriched his architectural pursuits by studying abroad in England and Italy while steeping himself in their history. Vince worked for various architectural firms in Fayetteville, Ark.; Atlanta, Ga.; and Little Rock, Ark. He was most recently employed with Schlereth Family, LLC. Despite his illness, he preserved his generous spirit and his quick, dry wit. Vince enjoyed a personal curation of the finer things in life. This includes his fascination with culture-rich Mexico, his creation of culinary masterpieces both at home and in a few local landmark eateries, the renovation of his home in Historic Hillcrest District, his stash of Japanese candies he was always ready to share, his unmatched love of all things Apple, and his never-ending quest to brew the perfect cup of coffee. He was devoted to his family and was loved dearly in return. Regular Sunday night family dinners were something he always eagerly anticipated. He is gone from our lives much too soon, and the void he leaves is immeasurable. Vince is survived by his father, John V. Schlereth, Sr.; his sister, K. Michele (Tom) Dematti; his nieces, Megan (Nick) Mitrani and Mallory Burns (David Loesch); along with his great-nephew and niece, Luca and London Mitrani. He is also survived by a dear friend of the family, Dell Fogleman; his lifelong friend, Stephanie (Brooks) Caruthers; and his bonus nieces, Audrey and Celeste Caruthers. Vince reluctantly loved his cat NooHoo and a special chihuahua, Sophie. Arrangements are being handled by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private memorial for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John V. Schlereth Scholarship Fund at Catholic High or to Lucie's Place in Little Rock. To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
