Julia Ann Hays Hopkins, age 78, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at Hospice Inpatient Care in Little Rock, Ark. She was born October 19, 1941, in Bivins, Cass County, Texas, to Robert Hays and Fannie Elizabeth Hays. She retired from the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department after 31 years of dedicated service. She loved to work outside, mowing and caring for her beautiful rose bushes. She loved working crossword puzzles and the daily Cryptoquote. Julia married the love of her life, Roy "Bud" Hopkins on November 15, 1958, and celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. She is predeceased by her husband; parents; three brothers, Edward Hays, Carl Hays and Robert Hays; and two sisters, Martha Sue Hopkins and Alice Brown. Julia is survived by her only child, daughter Tammy Porter (Jeff) of Malvern, Ark.; three grandchildren, Tara Dorminy of Rogers, Ark., Brad Porter (Cami) of Bryant, Ark., and Kyle Porter (Sydney) of Little Rock, Ark.; and two great-grandchildren, Hadley Dorminy and Jackson Dorminy of Rogers, Ark. Julia is also survived by two sisters, Mary Lou Holiday (Maurice) and Linda Jo Meyer (Johnny), all of Texarkana, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, October, 14, 2020, from 6-8 p.m., at Pinecrest Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Arkansas Alzheimer's Association.
