She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Richard Samuel and siblings Myrtle Eubanks, James Buddy Smith, Peggy Balentine, Vernell Mishaw, and Raydell Smith. Helen is survived by her two daughters, Linda Martindale (Jim) of Conway, with whom she made her home, and Ann Baker (Frank) of Texarkana, Texas; brother, Rupert Smith of Farmers Branch, Texas; grandchildren, J.B. Martindale (Stefanie) and Kay Lynn Hill (Jeff) of Conway, Amy Traweek (Richard) of Hallsville, Texas, and Brian Black (fiancé Meredith Hunter) of Fordyce; great-grandchildren, James Martindale, III, Gage Martindale, Lilly Hill, Jake Hill, Zachary, Jordan, and Hudson Traweek; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. All of her grandchildren were the loves of her life and held a special place in her heart. She loved being their "MiMi." Helen worked at Southern State College (SAU) in the office of the president for over 20 years. She was a true southern lady; she was a part of the "greatest generation" surviving the great depression and being a war bride of WWII. She lived her faith everyday with love and kindness to all. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Magnolia and attended Second Baptist Church in Conway. A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at the Magnolia City Cemetery with a graveside service following at 11 a.m., with Bro. David Watkins and Dr. Mike Seabaugh officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Masks are required.
