EMMA JEAN LAY, 70, of Little Rock, departed this life peacefully on October 16, 2020. Emma was born in Little Rock, Ark. on August 4, 1950 to Mattie Allen and Ernest Lay. She graduated from Lee Senior High School and college at Arkansas AM & N College later known as UAPB. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in secondary education at UAPB and elementary education from Philander Smith College. She was a member of Holy Cross Baptist Church for over 40 years as well as Dean of Christian Education and a mother. She retired as a manager of Department of Workforce Services, with over 38 years of service for the State of Arkansas. She is survived by her daughter Atrinna (Bryant) Huntley of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters Selena Perkins of Tyler, Texas, Linda Swanigan of Little Rock, Patricia Howard of Roseville, Calif. and Jackie Lay Morganfield of Anderson, Calif.; four brothers Vernon (Buke) Perkins, Kurt Lay, Markell (Chandra) Pearson of St. Louis, Mo. and Lloyd Abbott of Little Rock; one granddaughter, Mariah and one great grandson DJ, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, stepmothers Maggie and Leanna Lay; brothers Ulysses, Michael, and Johnny; sisters:Geraldine, Rosetta, Carrie, Juanita, and grandson Trey. Visitation: Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Service: Friday, 11 a.m. both at Holy Cross Baptist Church 4800 W. 12th St. Pastor Cory Wiley officiating.
