MARTHA LOU BATYTES, known as Marty, Nana, Ma-Ma, and Grammy Lou to those who loved her, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the age of 76. She was born in August of 1944, in Little Rock, Ark. Marty's early childhood was spent in Jacksonville, Ark., where she was the third oldest of eight children. She lived several years of her adult life in both California and Texas, each time returning home to Little Rock where she spent the last 32 years before recently moving to North Little Rock. She is the feisty mother of Michelle Williams and Misha Meyer; the loving and devoted grandmother of Ashley Meyer and Mackenzie Williams; and the grouchy but loyal sister of Bonita Troutman, Glenda Scully, Mickey Heptinstall, Patricia Garcia, and Janice Hunter. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Clayton Heptinstall. Marty is sadly missed by her family and friends. She easily welcomed all her daughters' and granddaughters' friends into her life and considered them part of the family. The space she leaves behind is felt deeply by everyone. In lieu of a service, Marty's family will be having a private gathering to celebrate her life. They ask anyone who has recovered from COVID-19 to please donate plasma for continued treatment research or give a small gift "in memory" to mealsonwheelsamerica.org to help provide for seniors who have been more isolated due to precautions during the pandemic.
