Clemens Adolph Gottsponer, age 81, of Maumelle, Ark., passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. He was born on March 31, 1939, in St. Vincent, Ark., to John Frank Gottsponer and Christine Noll Gottsponer. He was a 1957 graduate of Catholic High School, he served his country in the United States Army, and he retired in 2009 from a long career as the building maintenance supervisor at the Arkansas State Capitol. He was also an excellent painter and spent much of his adult life working a second job as a painting contractor through his business, Gottsponer Paint. Clem attended Fellowship Bible Church and he loved to hunt and fish, especially with his family and friends. He also loved working in his garden and cooking family favorites like BBQ ribs, fried fish, and his famous Thanksgiving dressing. He was a beloved "Pappaw," never missing an event in the lives of his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, and he always had a treat in his pocket for his grand-dogs and great-grand-dogs. Clem is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jewell Vaughan Gottsponer of Maumelle; daughter, Regina (Lyn) Fruchey of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Rachel (Evan) Bell of Conway, Anna (Jonathan) Covington of Little Rock, and Luke (Hailee) Fruchey of Conway; six great-grandchildren, Seth, Audrey, and Joshua Bell of Conway, Eden and Caleb Covington of Little Rock, and Ivy Fruchey of Conway; three sisters, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Brown of Morrilton, Helen (Wayne) Branch of Oppelo, and Molly Wells of Cleveland; and one brother, Pete (Helen) Gottsponer of St. Vincent; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Flora Gottsponer; and his brother, John Gottsponer. A celebration of Clem's life will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Fellowship Bible Church with Brandon Barnard officiating.
