Glynn Charles Holmes, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. Known to many as "Monkey", Glynn was born on September 16, 1953 to Charles and Velma Holmes. Being a pastor's son, he lived in several towns across Arkansas growing up. In 2001 Glynn married Peggy Smith Bailey, because he "just loved her". Glynn was a long time member of law enforcement, serving for over two decades in departments at Carlisle, DeValls Bluff, U.A.M.S., with the majority spent with his beloved Prairie County Sheriff's Department. He loved law enforcement, working with his long time friend, Rick Hickman and the opportunity to help someone. He especially enjoyed his time spent serving in the court system building. He had a special bond with judges, lawyers, court reporters and his one and only Gaylon Hale. Glynn also served as usher and security for Carlisle First Baptist Church for many years. Glynn was preceded in death by his grandmother, Etta; mother, Velma (Greenwalt) Holmes, step-mother, Lennie Holmes and nephew, Gary Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; father, Charles Holmes of Biscoe; two step-children, Michele (Keith) Calhoun of Des Arc, and Chris (Suzanne) Bailey of Beebe; grandchildren, Tanner (Haley Jo) Calhoun, Bailey (Grant) Staton, Benjamin Bailey, Lauren (Scott) Gunter and Emmalie O'Neil; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Ellie Gunter; sisters, Charlene Holmes, Krisie Holmes, and Nancy (Dannie Ray) Holmes; brothers Edward (Bernice) Holmes, Lynn Holmes, Leon (Susan) Holmes and Jackie Holmes and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly. Visitation will be held at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen from 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 14. Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 15 at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle with interment to follow at the Carlisle Cemetery. Online obituary at www.westbrookfuneralhomehazen.com.
