Floyd Eldor Glenn

Floyd Eldor Glenn passed away Monday, September 14, 2020, at 97 years old. He was born July 19, 1923, outside Stuttgart on the River Road, in Keaton Township to Joseph Wilson and Louise Ernestine Rabeneck Glenn. Floyd lived in Stuttgart all but the last 2 years of his life. He cherished his family, kin and friends and never met a stranger. He was a really nice man and loved by all who knew him. He worked as a mail carrier at the post office for over 25 years and seemed to know most everyone in Stuttgart. Floyd was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuttgart where he was an elder for many years. Floyd enjoyed hunting fishing and camping with wife Joan and family. He was a very good fast-pitch softball pitcher with his team winning a military league title while in the Coast Guard. He coached little league baseball and was a good ping pong player playing in tournaments and playing at the fire station on Main Street. He ran road races all over Arkansas with his wife Joan and they participated in Team Triathlons. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan Marie Gerling Glenn (who he met while they were both serving in the Coast Guard during WWII); a daughter, Mary Ellen Glenn; brother, Robert Louis Glenn; and sisters, Alice and Ruby Laura Glenn. Floyd is survived by his daughter, Carol Glenn Andersen; sons, Joseph (Maureen), Steve (Vickie) and John (Nancy); grandchildren, Russell Andersen (Lynne), Linda Bettencourt (Michael), Venchise Phillips (Aaron), Kim Maxwell (Jim), Montica Hollway (Marcus), Erin Cochran (Clay), Jacob Glenn, Matt Glenn (Rachel), Shaun Glenn (Leslie) Regan Davis (Will), Jeffrey Stotts and Lindsay Stotts (Stephanie); and 13 great-grandchildren, (John, Allie, William, Mallie, Max, Carter, Kennedy, Abby, Austin, Caden, Elliot, Asher and Harlow) Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2020, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuttgart with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. The family asks that any memorials be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 205 E. Fifth St., Stuttgart, Ark., 72160.
