Nicky Dorn Mahan of Martinville passed away peacefully September 13, 2020, at the age of 74. Born on January 28, 1946, to Alvin (Buck) and Maxine Mahan, he grew up with childhood friends and five brothers roaming the hillsides, riding the horse, playing ball, and working the family farm. Nick will be remembered most for his vibrant spirit, his ability to light up a room, his storytelling, his passion for fishing and his passion for telling stories about fishing. He cherished his family and lifelong friendships. Nick was a generous man with a big heart. After his career as an Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad he found a love for gardening, smoking meat, and running trotlines. It brought him great joy to share these with his neighbors and his friends. He unconditionally loved and cared for the elderly of his community. Nick was a dedicated member of the Martinville Church of Christ. Nick was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Teddy, David, Michael and George. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Beth Mahan; sons, Randy, Robert and Russell Mahan; step-daughters, Tammy Johnson, Missy (Scott) Mamary and Shannon Hermann; grandchildren, Ashley (Britton) Echols, Evan Iberg, Jessica James, Dylan, Blake and Alyvia Mahan; step-grandchildren, Joey and Anna Mamary, Brooke (Fiancé Canyon Harbin) Johnson and Cooper Hermann; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haeleah and Hannah Echols and one step-great-grandchild, Berkley Harbin; his brother, Larry (Jackie) Mahan; his sisters-in-law, Beverly and Margaret Mahan; several beloved nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sue Tsuda and staff along with Dr. William Freeman and staff for their specialized services, comfort and continuous support. Honoring Nick's wishes to protect everyone, there will be a graveside service at Martinville Cemetery for immediate family and honorary pallbearers only. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers; Jim Hardy, Ricky Harrington (Tadpole), Blake Lieblong, Jerry Coney, Osbie Davis and Jim Everett.
