Lawrence Joseph Pilkington

Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Pilkington of Sheridan, Ark., was born August 23, 1946, in Little Rock, Ark., the son of the late Wayne W. and Cecelia Drilling Pilkington. Larry, otherwise known as "Pickle" or "Cow Doc", was a livestock and poultry inspector for the state of Arkansas. He was of the Catholic faith, and an active member of several hunting and fox clubs. He never met a stranger, always had a helping hand for anyone in need, and sure could tell some good stories. Larry died at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2020, with his family by his side, at the age of 74. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Patrick Pilkington. Survivors: wife, caregiver, and best friend for over 18 years, Donna Carol Smith Pilkington of Sheridan; sons, Mark (Candice) Pilkington of Clinton, Gary (Melissa) Brown of Sheridan, Matthew (Stacy) Bevans of Little Rock; daughters, Paige Pilkington of St. Petersburg, Fla., Faith (Scott) Boatright of Sheridan, Mary Carder of Sheridan; brothers, Bob (Mary Lou) Pilkington of East End, George (Vicky) Pilkington of Cabot, Pete (Tina) Little Rock, Paul Pilkington of Little Rock, Don Pilkington of Alexander, Jim Pilkington of Conway; sister, Betty (Jerry) Fortner of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Emily Pilkington, Caleb Bowman, Kirsten Bowman, Brockton Brown, Elisabeth Brown, Bryce Boatright, Collin Boatright, Joel Carder; and his lifelong childhood friend, Charlie Dinger, and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Collin Boatright, Bryce Boatright, Cody Harris, Ritchie Tucker, Caleb Bowman and Robert Pilkington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marylake Carmelite Monastery, 5151 Marylake Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72206. Due to COVID 19, at the monastery and the funeral home, masks must be worn and social distancing is required.
