Juanita McDaniel Jamison, 89, of Dermott, Ark., passed away Friday, September 25th. Juanita was born in Dermott, Ark., on December 9, 1930, to the late Willie McDaniel and Mary Stracener McDaniel. She was a 1948 graduate of Dermott High School where she graduated as Salutatorian of her class. She graduated from UAM Nursing School in 1981 as an LPN. After years of nursing, working at Dermott Hospital until its closure, Dermott City Nursing Home, and McGehee Hospital, she retired. Even after retirement she still was a caregiver to many family members and church members. Juanita was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she served many years as a teacher, helped with Bible school and served on various committees. She loved flower gardening, sewing and cooking. Other that her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Genevia Rushing of Sheridan, Syble Calhoun and Diane Morphis both of Monticello. Survivors include daughter, Mary Ann (Jim Bob) Johnson of Dermott; son, Billy (Stacia) Jamison of McGehee; grandchildren, Lindsey (Cody) Long, Lacey (Mike) Mangum, Drew (Kirbi) Jamison and Jamie Ward. She was also survived by her six beloved great-grandchildren, Joshua Ward, Aubrey Jamison, Jillian Pacheco, Landon Long, Charlie Hammans and Holland Mangum. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott, Ark., with Rev. Bobby Franklin officiating.
