Gary Wayne Weems

Gary Wayne Weems, 73, of Hazen, passed away on September 27, 2020, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was born May 23, 1947, at Baptist Memorial in Little Rock, Ark., to Jacob Eli and Clara Maxine Guess Weems. Gary attended Fort Worth Technical High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where he lived until his senior year. He graduated from Forrest Park High School in Forrest Park, Ga., in 1965. He was platoon 3108 Paris Island United States Marine Corp. and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Gary was also an ordained deacon at Lakeside Missionary Baptist church in Des Arc, Ark., where he and his wife are currently members. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Holt Weems; sister, Johnnie Weems Davis and husband, Bob Davis of San Antonio, Texas; son, Ryan Weems and wife, Shannon of Hazen; daughter, Autumn Weems Wood of Cabot; grandchildren, Jacob, Eli, Emily and Luke and nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, John and Nettie Guess and Jacob Levi and Barbra Weems. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen, Ark. Funeral services will be held at the pavilion located outside the Center Point Missionary Baptist Church in Hazen, Arkansas at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020.
