Doris Louise Eddington

Pine Bluff, AR, 1937 - 2021

Doris L. Eddington, 83 years of age, was born September 14, 1937, to the late Henry and Annie Mae LaMar of Pine Bluff, Ark. She received Christ at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Ark. Doris attended Coleman High School and was second runner up for Homecoming Queen. She graduated May 1956. Her interest included decorating, listening to music, and cooking. Cooking was her way of making people feel right at home. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. Doris cherished her children and embraced every moment with them. She was very family oriented and took pride in making her friends and family feel welcomed. Her heart was genuine and she was known for her compassionate spirit. Many years after raising her seven children, Doris worked at Pine Bluff Nursing Home and later retired from the Jefferson County Health Department. She will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew her.
Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Paulette Eddington, grandparents, Maggie and Willie B. Nelson, stepfather, Alonzo Hunter, three brothers, Robert LaMar, Henry P. LaMar, Jr., and Cornelius LaMar, and sister, Betty Tisdale. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Ethel Irvin (Andrew) of St. Louis, Mo., and Alice Faye Morris (Paul) of Reston, Va.; five daughters, Brenda Lott (Carl) of Bryant, Ark., Ramona Clark of Pine Bluff, Ark., Melanie Burleson (Hiram) of Dallas, Texas, Gloria Whitman (Michael) of Sheridan, Ark., Carla Shaw (Bobby) of Little Rock, Ark. and one son, Carl James Eddington Jr. of Pine Bluff, Ark. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing 2 to 2:45 p.m., Saturday, April, 10, 2021, at Pilgram Missionary Baptist Church, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, followed by a 3 p.m., graveside service at Forrest Lawn Cemetery Pine Bluff by Pastor Kevin L. Crumpton, Sr. Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
