Bernard "Barney" Sahene

BERNARD "BARNEY" SAHENE, 93, of Maumelle, Ark., passed away on April 6, 2021. Barney was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Susan and Leo Sahene. On August 21, 1948, Barney married the love of his life, Margurite Smeltz. They celebrated 73 wonderful years of marriage together and raised six treasured children. Barney is survived by his wife, Margurite; brother, Emmanuel Sahene, sisters; Vera Zikmund; Margaret Devore and Helen Bozik, all six children, Bernadette Hurst (Don); Carole Derby (Allen); Phil Sahene (Donna); John Sahene (Ruth); Jim Sahene (Paula) and Lisa Hamilton (Ben); 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Maumelle on Tuesday, April 13th at 10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you send any donations to First United Methodist Church, 1201 Edgewood Drive, Maumelle, Ark., 72113.
