Dora Luten Ball, 90, of North Little Rock, went to meet the Lord on April, 12, 2021. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil "Charlie", her brother, Dr. Joseph "Chick" Luten, Jr., and her grandson, Jordan "Allen" Ball. She is survived by her two children, Charles Ball of North Little Rock, and David Ball (Cindy) of Sherwood. Five grandchildren, Janelle Ball of North Little Rock, Madeline Meatte (Justin) of Bryant, Catherine Herron of Cabot, Delaney Ball of Little Rock, and Carter Ball of Ward. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. She will forever be "Ging-Ging" to all of her grandchildren. Dora was born on November 11, 1930, in Little Rock, to Dr. Joseph Randle Luten and Dora Margaret Hafendorfer Luten. Dora attended Little Rock public schools, graduating Little Rock High School in 1948, attended colleges in Dallas, Texas. In December 1948, she met her future husband on her college Christmas break. They married in March 1953, had two sons. She became active in the community almost immediately after moving to North Little Rock, beginning by helping to take a survey to see if a Methodist Church was needed in Lakewood, it was, and she and "Charlie" became Charter members in 1955. She launched her many years of community service at Lakewood Methodist, where she served as a circle chairman. Dora later joined the North Little Rock Junior Auxiliary, becoming the youngest President of this organization, now known as the Junior League NLR, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for six years. After several years of local community service she was the first President of the Lakewood Junior High/Northeast High School PTA, President of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and was elected Justice of the Peace in the 1970's, serving two terms, and actually married one young couple, which later divorced, much to her disappointment! After both sons were grown her attention turned to genealogy having done intensive research on her family as well as the Ball family and served as secretary of the Arkansas Genealogy Society. The Ball family Bible which had been sought after by numerous Ball family members was given to her in 1976. While her interest in genealogy increased she and "Charlie" became antique dealers for 30 years traveling several states. In the year 2000 at the age of seventy, she wanted to sell antiques on the internet, so she took three courses at Pulaski Technical College to learn how to design websites which was something she really enjoyed doing! She loved her family and loved life. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakewood United Methodist Building Fund, 1922 Topf Rd., North Little Rock, Ark., 72116. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Private entombment will be held at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
