Bonnie Sue Lavy, 84 of Lowell, Ark., passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in her home. She was born May 25, 1936 in Phillipsburg, Ohio to Ray Besecker and Sula (Thomas) Besecker. At the age of 16, Bonnie Sue Besecker (Lavy) was crowned the first ever Miss Chick of Ohio. She was a retired elementary school teacher and loved singing with her students. She was known as the "Singing Sub" to Fayetteville's elementary students. They carry on her legacy by singing, "Oh, they built that ship Titanic..." and "The other day, I saw a bear..." with great enthusiasm! She was member of University Baptist Church in Fayetteville where she was a member of the Orchestra playing the marimba. She also was a part of the Mom to Mom Ministry at the church as well as being a worship leader for the women's ministries. Bonnie had passion for loving God, encouraging young mothers, playing softball, and cheering on the Razorbacks. One of her greatest joys was being "Mamaw" to her grandkids and great grandkids and cheering them on in their sporting endeavors. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Vicki Hunter and Judy Lewis. She is survived by her husband Terry Lavy, two daughters, Tammy (Greg) Calico, Tara (Bryan) Riley, one son, Trevor (Kellie) Lavy. Twelve grandchildren: Brittany (Chase) Priest, Carter (Leslie) Calico, Hannah (Charlie) Cole, Colin Calico, Emma (Sam) Bradford, Olivia Lavy, Anna Grace (Reed) Adams, Cori Calico, Tanner Riley, Keaton Riley, Regan Riley, Maribel Riley, and nine great-grandchildren: John Grady Priest, Langley Priest, Griffin Priest, Carlisle Priest, Zaid Calico, Hendrix Calico, Pearce Calico, Boden Bradford, and Bobby Lee Bradford. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 18th from 4-6 p.m., at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 19th in the Chapel of the Dove at University Baptist Church. To view the service online please go to facebook.com/ubcfayetteville.
