Dr. Anthony James "Tony" Miltich II, age 79, of Rogers, died peacefully Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at his residence. He was born September 10, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Elaine Fiegel and Anthony James Miltich, Sr. Tony grew up in Flint and graduated from Assumption High School in Windsor, Ontario. He earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. While there he discovered audiology and went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Audiology from the University of Michigan. As an audiologist, Tony practiced clinically in a medical setting before turning to industrial audiology in the mid-70's. He used his knowledge of electronics and computers to develop a computer controlled multi-station audiometer for testing hearing, recording results, and generating reports in industrial settings. Tony continued his computer programming to generate audiograms and reports that were in keeping with ever progressing technology. Tony embraced his new home in Arkansas and when they lived outside Fayetteville, became a volunteer fireman with the Wedington Fire Department. After moving to Beaver Lake, he joined the Avoca Fire Department, becoming a Board member after retiring from firefighting. Tony was a member of Association for Beaver Lake Environment (ABLE), where he served as President. Representing ABLE, he worked with the Beaver Water Shed Alliance. In 2019, he received the Guardian Award from the Alliance for his contributions to the protection of Beaver Lake. Tony recently donated his extensive collection of vintage personal computers to the Rogers Historical Museum, and an exhibit featuring his collection was featured in 2020. Tony enjoyed sailing and racing on the Great Lakes before moving to Arkansas. He and his wife had sailed the Great Lakes, including Canadian waters and the North Channel. After moving to Arkansas, they sailed on Beaver Lake and the Gulf of Mexico. Tony was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
