Jayme Beth Pultro, age 54, of Bryant, Ark., went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2021, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. She was born April 29, 1966, to James Scott Cox and Alice Marian (Cox) Fillingham. She grew up in Bryant, Ark., and graduated from Bryant High School in 1984. After graduation, she turned down a full scholarship to Brown University to attend the University of Arkansas – Little Rock so she could remain local to help care for her hearing impaired parents. Jayme was an avid martial artist and instructed Taekwondo, earning the prestigious second degree black belt; one of the first women in the country to earn the title at the time. While teaching Taekwondo, she met her future husband, Gary Pultro, of 31 years. They had four sons together: Nicholas, Jacob, Zachary, and Joshua. Her parent's hearing disabilities guided her to find her calling as an audiologist. She started her own private audiology clinic in 1991. While starting her private clinic and raising her four sons, she completed her doctoral degree in audiology, at the University of Florida. She successfully practiced audiology for over 25 years building her private practice to becoming one of the largest private audiology clinics in Arkansas and treating thousands of Arkansans hearing impairments over her career. In 2017, her clinic "Little Rock Audiology" was selected by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as Arkansas' Best Hearing Center. After finishing her time in her private practice, she brought her decades of experience and knowledge to UAMS to teach audiology. At UAMS, she served as a Clinical Audiologist, Clinical Director, and Assistant Professor. She was appointed by the Governor of Arkansas as a Chairperson on The Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Jayme was very active in her sons lives and served as the Vice President and secretary of the Bryant Athletic Association for many years. Selflessly, Jayme spent her entire life caring, mentoring, teaching, and helping others. Jayme was an active member at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and attended the deaf congregation service for decades with her parents, sons, and husband. Jayme was a true believer in Christ and was an outstanding example of how to live as a Christian. Jayme leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 31 years, Gary Pultro; their four children and spouses: Nicholas and Heather Pultro, Jacob and Claudia Pultro, Zachary and Ashley Pultro, and Joshua and Emily Pultro. Jayme was also blessed with three grandchildren: Max, Luna-Leigh, and Micah. Jayme also leaves behind one sibling and his spouse: Roger and Katie Cox of Bryant, Ark. Visitation will be held at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Bryant, Arkansas from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday – April 25, 2021. Also, there will be a chapel service at Pinecrest Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Sunday – April 25, 2021. The service will be officiated by Brother Bob Slagley.
