William Jack Lasley, 94, of Fullerton, California went to be with the Lord, July 22, 2021. He was born January 28, 1927, in Little Rock to George Henton and Edith Jobe Lasley. Jack graduated from Little Rock High School (now LR Central), Little Rock Jr. College (now UALR), Hartt School of Music (Hartford CT), and Chapman College (Orange CA). After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Jack then began his 40-year career as an English teacher in Compton, Calif. He was a member in the California Teachers Association, National Education Association, and American Legion. He was an Episcopalian. Opera, classical music, dance, travel, gardening, and in later years, the cats that found homes in his garden, all brought pure enjoyment. One of his greatest accomplishments was hearing from many former students that stayed in touch through the years with "their mentor." Jack is survived by his sister, Georgia Lasley Bobo; nieces and nephews, Vicki Penton Russell; Julia Bobo-Shisler (Scott); James Bobo; Cora Bobo-Shisler; Lauren Bobo-Shisler; Penny Russell Sharp (Kevin); Brandon Sharp; Kaitlyn Sharp; Jim Beard; and Corrine Beard Kilbury. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Lasley Penton; and brothers-in-law, Robert Penton, Jim Bobo, and Leon Wiles. Funeral is Saturday, August 7, 2021, 11 a.m., at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home; burial will follow at Bayou Meto Cemetery in Jacksonville.
