Lila (Avis) Lane, 101 years of age, of Huntsville; passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Countryside Assisted Living, Huntsville. She was born April 14, 1920, in Weatherford, Okla., to Glen H. and M. Mable Hastings Payne. Avis married Ernest Jack Lane on September 10, 1938 at Madera, Calif.; and together they were parents to three children. She was married to the love of her life for 57 years. She was a homemaker. Her family was her main interest in life. When she wasn't playing dominoes or cards with friends and family, she loved cooking, gardening, making rugs, embroidery and loved her church. Avis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; one brother, David Payne; one son, Bill Lane; one daughter, Ellen Carol Haley; and one granddaughter, Cheryl Rabb. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Dennis Parmele of War Eagle; one brother, Glen Payne Jr. of Huntsville, Ark.; one brother, Gene Payne and wife, Jerrie Payne, of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Lois Dickinson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Wade Lane, Diane and husband Eric Brayman, Mike Frye, Chris Parmele, Debby and husband Ronnie Loveless, Kristi and husband Michael Scott, Kim and husband Bryan Atkinson; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Clifty Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Clifty, Ark., on Highway 12 East, with Brother Dwayne Lane officiating. Pallbearers will be Wade Lane, Chris Parmele, Ronnie Loveless, Michael Scott, Bryan Atkinson, and Jack Parmele. Interment will immediately follow services at Upper Clifty Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to the building fund at Clifty Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 11855 Cottage Hill Rd, Rogers, Ark. 72756 (please note that this is not the church address.) Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
