Sue Johnson, age 89, of the Calmer community went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2021. She was born in Dallas County to the late Clayton Holland and the late Martha Louie (McGhee) Sims. She graduated from Thornton High School. On May 20, 1950, she married the love of her life, Jerrell Mack Johnson. Sue was a talented, hardworking wife who was bookkeeper for both the family-owned Johnson & Knight Poultry and Egg Business (eight years) in Springhill, La., and ever since 1963 for the Mack Johnson Farms. She worked alongside her husband raising cattle, chickens and tomatoes, winning Cleveland County Farm Family of the Year and the State Egg Producer of the Year. Sue fed and tended to many people and lots of youth that worked on the farm. Much of what she prepared came out of the huge garden the Johnson's raised each year. After the family decided no longer to raise chickens and tomatoes Sue went to work for Simmons Bank where she retired from the credit card department. Sue was a longtime member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang alto in the choir and specials, participated in Sunday School, and helped cook for many church-wide fellowships. From cooking to deer hunting, fishing, singing, quilting, canning, and spoiling her family, she lived an active life. Preceding Sue in death were her parents; brothers, Carroll Sims and Bobby Sims; and sister, Lucille Stacks.
