Patsy Jean Styles Sample passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 due to complications from Covid. Pat was born in Little Rock to the late Carl A. and Katie M. Spann Styles. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Benton and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Pat was a fourth grade teacher for the Benton Public School System for 30 years at Westside Elementary, which later became Ringgold Elementary. After retiring, she and husband, Sam, attended numerous Razorback football and basketball games with friends. She and Sam were ex-members of the Twirling Lariats square dance club of Mabelvale. Pat was preceded in death only 46 days prior by her beloved husband of 64 years, Sam Sample; her parents, and son-in-law, Bill Tilley, DVM. She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Vinyard (Eric), Karen Tilley, and Sharen Woodard (Harold); five grandchildren, Erin Schlagel (Kai), Matthew Vinyard (Lauren), Mark Vinyard, Andrew Woodard (Liz), and Taylor Finley (Jason); 12 great-grandchildren, Luke, Landan, Lily, and Lynleigh Schlagel, Hudson and Gentry Vinyard, Paige, Payton, and Wyatt Vinyard, Lincoln Woodard, and Drew and Austyn Finley. Pat is also survived by a sister-in-law, Juanita Sample, and several loved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers are Mark Vinyard, Matthew Vinyard, Kai Schlagel, Jason Finley, Andrew Woodard, and Drew Finley. Honorary pallbearers are Luke Schlagel, Landan Schlagel, Wyatt Vinyard, Lincoln Woodard, and Hudson Vinyard. A funeral service will be Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Benton, 200 N. Market Street, Benton. First United Methodist Church is complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 80 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering. Interment will be in Smith-New Rosemont Cemetery in Benton. An open visitation will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home, 6700 Alcoa Road, Benton. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 100 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering. The family requests memorials in Patsy's name be made to First United Methodist Church of Benton, 200 N.
