Photo of Aaron Dean Gamewell, Jr.
Aaron Dean Gamewell, Jr., age 51, of Little Rock, Ark., transitioned to eternal living to be with the Lord January 13, 2021. Never accepting good as the ultimate, Aaron relished every opportunity to help and empower others by encouraging and supporting his co-workers. Aaron was Chairman and CEO of SBS CyberSecurity where he led as a servant leader and considered his employees as extended family. Born March 21,1969, in Newport, Ark., to Aaron Dean Gamewell, Sr. and Linda Burleson, Aaron moved to Panama City, Fla., at ten years of age and graduated from Panama City Christian High School where he participated in athletics. Before joining SBS Cybersecurity, Gamewell had 21 years of experience in banking and business operations. He worked in Arkansas for multiple banks until 2008, when he began a consulting practice for start-ups and venture capital groups. He led several businesses in Arkansas to maximize the efficiency of their operations to become high-functioning, successful ventures. In 2012, he accepted a position as EVP and COO of the Arkansas Bankers Association, a position held until joining SBS in 2015. Since 2017, Aaron furiously battled head and neck cancer often inspiring and encouraging cancer patients fighting the disease. His daily example often resonated as a beaming light of hope to all he came into contact with which allowed God's spirit to glow through him during his most challenging days. He would use his weekly treatments at CARTI to spend time listening to patients who were dealing with the challenges associated with cancer, encouraging them to keep fighting. He quickly became a vocal supporter of the work of CARTI and helped to raise money for their efforts, especially the transportation needs of patients that had to travel great distance for their treatments. Special thank you to all who shared this challenging journey with Aaron. The family will be forever grateful to the entire staff of CARTI of Little Rock and Baptist Hospice for such compassionate care for Aaron. Aaron is survived by his wife, Nola René Gamewell; daughter, Sara Alexis Gamewell of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Aaron Brennon Gamewell; three stepsons, John Hayden Proctor, Thomas Hanan Proctor, and Timothy Cole Proctor; one stepdaughter, Emma Kathlyn Proctor; father, Aaron Dean Gamewell, Sr. of Panama City, Fla.; mother, Linda Burleson; two brothers, Shannon Gamewell of North Little Rock, Ark., and Brent Williams of Portland, Oregon. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will honor Aaron's life in a private service at 10 a.m., on Saturday, January 16.
