Jimmie Dale Hignight May 17, 1929 - January 08, 2021 Jimmie Dale Hignight, 91, of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away on January 8, 2021 at Methodist Village Nursing Home in Fort Smith. He was born on May 17, 1929 in the Highland community (Pike County) Ark., to Henry Odie and Nona Bell Hignight. He was raised in Prescott where his parents owned and operated the Hignight Peach Orchard. Jimmie met Erma Lou Campbell of Laneburg, Ark. and on May 10, 1952, they married in Arkadelphia. They transferred to Charleston, Ark., and eventually moved to Fort Smith. He was employed by ARKLA Gas Company for 35 years and retired as a Compressor Dept. District Superintendent. He later enrolled in Arkansas Valley Vo-Tech in Ozark, and was awarded Student of the Year. He was a member of the Fort Smith Antique Auto Club and Gideons International. Jimmie was also a member and deacon at New Liberty Baptist Church and was currently attending Helping Hand Church in Fort Smith. Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Erma; parents Henry and Nona; a brother Cecil; great-granddaughter Taylor; and son in law Ronnie Rogers. Jimmie is survived by one daughter, Amanda Rogers of Fort Smith; his son James Randall Hignight (Robin) of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren, Amber Denney of Fort Smith; Natalie Shelnut (Jason) of Vernon, Ala.; Grant Hignight (Aileen) of Rogers, Ark; a great-granddaughter Madison Shelnut of Vernon, Ala.; a niece Cindy Smith (Ken) of Mesa, Ariz.; and a grand niece Ashley Demeny of Colorado Springs, Co. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington, D.C., 20090-7251. Graveside service will be on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at 1 p.m., at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, Ark. with the Rev. Robert Berry officiating. Viewing will be Tuesday January 12, 2021 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel 4817 Kelley Hwy. Fort Smith, Ark.
