Lila Mae Cook Kelley, age 99, of Star City, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Born March 2, 1921 in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas Cook, Sr. and Mary Annabelle Bridges Cook. She and her late husband, Thomas J. Kelley, lived in the Hardin community near Pine Bluff for many years, and were members of Hardin Baptist Church. Mr. Kelley predeceased her March 23, 1982. Mrs. Kelley worked as a fletcher at Ben Pearson Archery Division and as an office assistant at Nesco prior to her retirement. She loved bowling well into her 80s. Mrs. Kelley bowled in several leagues, attended state bowling tournaments and even attended national bowling tournaments in Las Vegas. Also preceding her in death are her siblings, Rosa Belle Tidwell, Hattie Peterson, Mary Ellen Blasengame, Otis Cook, and James Thomas Cook, Jr.; and eight nieces and nephews. Although she had no children of her own, Mrs. Kelley is survived by a host of extended family including 23 nieces and nephews; 47 great-nieces and nephews, 70 great-great- nieces and nephews; 43 great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great-great-nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 18, 2021, 4 p.m. in Drake Cemetery at Star City with Brother Tim Foreman officiating.
