Billy Van Daniel, 83, of Pine Bluff, Ark., lovingly known as Bill or B.V. by his family and friends, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, surrounded by his family at home. He was born May 9, 1937, in the Big Creek community near Malvern to A.C. and Myrtle Cunningham Daniel. He was a 1955 graduate of Magnet Cove High School, and later attended Southern State University. On September 7, 1958, he was married to Loretta Sanders in Hot Springs. He was employed with I.P. as a Foreman in the finishing and shipping department, having retired in 1995 after 37 years of service. He loved sports, hunting, and fishing, and was well-known over Southern Arkansas for building fishing rods and repairing reels. He enjoyed gardening as well as going to flea markets and collecting antiques. He was a member of the former Fairfield Bass Club, and Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. In recent years, he began attending the Thursday morning Bible Study at Shannon Road Baptist Church. He will be missed greatly as a kind-hearted gentleman who was most honest and sincere, and a very giving man behind the scenes. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patsy Ann Penny; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Penny and Robert Parker; and a nephew, Aaron Mabry. He is left to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Loretta Sanders Daniel; two sons, Mark Daniel of Pine Bluff and Shannon Daniel (Jennifer) of the Sulphur Springs community; one grandson, Derek Daniel (Nikki) of White Hall; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Jude Daniel and Oliver Van Daniel of White Hall; two sisters, Sylvia Parker of Magnet Cove, and Terrie Mabry (Gary) of Malvern; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Josh Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery near Malvern. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M. Thursday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home.
