Wiley Cecil Stone

Wiley Cecil Stone, of McGehee, Ark., age 80, passed away July 2, 2021. He was born August 31, 1940, to late parents Viola and Olie Stone of Banks, Ark. Preceded in death by brother in law, Leon Johnson of Fordyce, Ark. Survived by his wife, Linda Stone of 56 years of McGehee, Ark.; their two daughters, Violet McNeal (Paul) of Perryville, Ark., and Mindy Stone of Little Rock, Ark. His sister, JoAnn Johnson of Fordyce, Ark., and brother, Tracy (Linda) Stone of Holt, Mo., and three grandsons: Robert Deen of Selma, Ark., Collin Deen of Little Rock, Ark., and William Deen of Perryville, Ark. He was a graduate of Banks High School in 1958 and attended Arkansas A&M, Monticello, Ark. Cecil helped build the Lock and Dam #1 at Pendleton, Ark., where he and Linda met. Cecil and Linda traveled the country with their mobile home working as a traveling Construction Office Manager for CH Leavell for many years. He helped build the Galleria Mall in Dallas, Texas, a hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and a shopping mall in Denver, Colo., and other various construction projects. After their daughters were born they settled in McGehee, Ark., where Cecil worked for Potlatch Pulp and Paper Mill in accounting and retired after 34 years. Cecil served on the board of directors at Arkansas Superior Federal Credit Union in various capacities. He loved fishing and hunting with his grandsons and friends, and simply being outside. Cecil loved taking the "silver bullet", Airstream camper, to various camping sites in Arkansas and camping with friends and family. Visitation will be held at 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark.
