Jackie "JD" Dean Hughes

Jackie (JD) Dean Hughes went peacefully to Heaven on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was born in Little Rock, Ark., on September 12, 1938, to Leanora and Wilson Hughes. Jackie is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughters, Sandy and Tony Hughes, and Amanda and Mark, with their children, Meagan and Jackie; son, Tim and Shannon Hughes and their son Elijah; Steven's children, Matt and Stevie; stepchildren Curt, Jimmy, Melissa, Eric, and Jacqulyn; nephews Harold and Gary. Jackie was also blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his son, Steven; his parents; sisters, Billie Jean and Judy; and stepchildren, Glen and Glenda. Jackie joined the Army but for much of his career he was a meat cutter working at various large and small markets starting with the family meat packing business. He lived in Austin with his wife Mildred. They liked traveling coast to coast allowing Ms. Mildred to follow her passion to see and explore the beautiful lighthouses. Jackie (JD) was a lifelong fisherman enjoying trips with George, his fishing buddy as well anyone else available to wet a hook. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, and passionate about the Razorbacks and Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends telling stories or just relishing the next generations antics. Jackie and Mildred also appreciated the opportunity to observe the wildlife that would visit their home while sitting on the front porch or looking out the den window. He will be missed but will always be in our hearts. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Ark., with a private family burial to follow.
